American Joshua Robinson didn’t get the death penalty for raping two underaged individuals and owning at least 321 child pornographic material, but in a country where some aspects of the 19th century Victorian legal system prevail, it is highly unusual.
According to the local Straits Times report, 39-year-old Joshua Robinson will be incarcerated for four years after he was found to have sexually assaulted two underaged girls, both of which he met separately through dating websites. The American MMA instructor was found guilty when a raid by law enforcement officers discovered video clips of Robinson sexually assaulting the two underaged girls. On top of that, officers also found 321 films of child pornography, the largest collection seized from an individual in Singapore.
Many Singaporean online netizens are not at all happy with the final verdict, with many surprised at the short jail term handed to the offender.
