Tina from Zimbabwe came to the People’s Republic of China in 2014 and worked as a foreign language translator. During her time in the city of Beijing where she worked, she met Li Shitong from Henan, a bidding contractor for a construction company.
Despite their language barrier, they hit it off from the start and conversed daily through a translation app.
This transnational interracial couple did not had it easy as parents from both sides were skeptical of their union due to cultural differences and what not.
Their love for each other were so strong that they persevered and on November 2nd of 2015, they married in the village where Shitong was from.
Their marriage generated a lot of buzz in the area and people gathered around like many interracial marriage ceremonies in China’s countryside.
Fast forward to today, Tina has her own English teaching school and the couple’s love for one another is stronger than ever.
